Music is and has always been a creative outlet for me to communicate my thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Singing and songwriting have healed me from painful times, added light to already beautiful moments, and continuously reconnected me to the person that I am. No matter where I find myself, I have my instrument – I am my instrument – and this instrument follows me through life. Through my voice, I feel that I have found my little corner in the world, one that is completely my own, and I’m grateful that I found it at such a young age. Music has shaped me into the woman I am today and has embellished the memories that I have from life so far. I am deeply inspired by nature, emotion, connection, spirituality, as they serve as inspiration for my lyrics. Writing those lyrics feels like releasing birds from a cage that live in my heart. I am so privileged to have the support of my family, friends, and listeners, who motivate me to nurture my artistry and supply me with the outlet to do so.

For the past three years, I have been living in Boston and attending Berklee College of Music. Here, I am able to cultivate my craft and collaborate with some incredible artists who share the same passion that I have for sound. I feel so blessed to be able to study at such an amazing institution and soak in all of the creativity around me. Moving here from South Florida has definitely been an adjustment in culture – and climate! – both places inspire me in equal yet different ways. South Florida reminds me of my childhood, playing carefree in the sun, with the warmth filling my heart. Meanwhile, Boston is where I’m truly becoming a professional artist, and where I’ve been able to put all of my inspiration into practice.

This past summer, I connected with a recording studio in Austin, Massachusetts. This studio assisted me in designing, managing, and executing my own crowd-funded campaign using IndieGoGo.com, through which I successfully reached my goal to fund my first EP, https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/jordan-leia-s-debut-studio-album#/. As part of this campaign, I was able to record a single called ‘Petals’ that is now available on Spotify, SoundCloud, Apple Music, and Google Play. This process was an amazing experience for me to begin my professional development and be able to have my first original single released on these major platforms.

Now that I have finished my campaign, I am currently working on my EP at Plaid Dog Studios in Austin with producer Bryan Fennelly. This process of songwriting is my favorite part of making music since it is the most artistic. It still fascinates me how art flows when creative people get together; we are able to construct something so beautiful at that moment. I have found that it is often difficult to release the need to control the creation, but it is so important to be receptive to new ideas and to allow the music to follow new directions that were entirely unpredictable at first. This surrender to the craft of songwriting is something that I’m definitely still working on, but when it happens, the flow brings me back to that initial connection, to my inner child, and to sharing my message with the rest of the world.
